Concord Pacific Place
Vancouver's ultimate waterfront neighbourhood is now taking shape along the shores of False Creek. The award-winning Concord Pacific Place is not only North America's
largest master-planned urban community, it also represents where Vancouver is going. Designed to reflect our city's traditions and approach to life, Concord Pacific Place
blends housing for 15,000 people with more than 50 acres of rolling parkland and three kilometres of seaside walkway. It is a catalyst for future development,
creating one of the most spacious and lowest density residential districts of any major city.
A shared vision for this magnificent waterfront community was confirmed through an extensive
community consultation process. The site that hosted the world for Expo 86 was to become the city's most spectacular downtown property.
The development is now moving ahead swiftly, with the ten acre David Lam Park nearing completion, and construction well underway on the first phase
of waterfront residences. More than half of the 200 acre site will be devoted to green space, while over $8 million of specially commissioned artwork
will grace its tree-lined boulevards and serene environment. Concord Pacific Place is a family place, with child care centres, elementary schools
and a wide range of recreational facilities including Vancouver's newest community arts centre in the historic Roundhouse. It is also Canada's
first fibre optic community, linked directly to the evolving information superhighway. A special partnership with BC TELECOM puts residents "on-line"
to receive new services, from home entertainment features like movies-on-demand to computerized shopping and banking services.
In the last decade, our city has become North America's fastest growing metropolitan area north of the sunbelt. Its reputation as one of the most attractive and livable
cities in the world is being enhanced by the intelligence of design and unparalleled beauty of Concord Pacific Place.
Setting the pace for the spirit of our city into the 21st Century, Concord Pacific Place is where Vancouver is going.
Only the best goes into the planning and construction of a new Concord Pacific home.
That's why each one comes with an unprecedented 10 year new home warranty and Canada's first 5 year in-suite protection program. These warranties are fully

For centuries native villages existed on the pristine shores of False Creek. From the
arrival of the first European explorers in the late 1700s, few would have been able to
envisage the fantastic transformation False Creek would undergo over the years
THE EVOLUTION OF FALSE CREEK
From the time False Creek Trail was completed in 1860 linking New Westminster
with the English Bay naval reserve, this area has served as the major transportation
link for Vancouver.
The first bridge spanning False Creek was finished in 1872, creating easy
access for the surrounding sawmills to transport their products into town.
A major land grant to the C.P.R. in 1886 helped create False Creek as we
know it today. The Roundhouse was built, Yaletown housed most of the
railway crews and other industries grew in the area.
In the 1890's, barrel making and shipbuilding also thrived
amidst the sawmills on the water's edge.
In 1973, the Granville Island Public Market was created, a
unique urban marketplace that attracts visitors from around
the world. The building of B.C. Place Stadium, the
development of False Creek South and the Expo 86 World's
Fair transformed False Creek into Vancouver's finest
waterfront community.
Now the circle around False Creek is complete. Homes, parks, families
and boats thrive on its shores, alongside galleries, theatres, specialty
shops, restaurants, bistros and the city's two premier sporting venues, B
C Place and General Motors Place. From its humble past, False Creek has
now become the jewel in Vancouver's crown, setting the stage for our
city's future.

On October 25, 1994, Lieutenant- Governor David Lam planted a magnolia tree and a Davidia
tree at the official opening ceremonies. "A park is like a lung to the city," he said.
"Without strong lungs, you don't have good health." David Lam Park will be open to
the public in May.
