Launching the outdoor entertainment season with colour and thrills, the International Dragon Boat Festival drew over 70,000 visitors to the grounds of Concord Pacific Place this summer. The three-day event featured an all-star stage show as well as racing by an international roster of Dragon Boat crews. The excitement continued with Jazz at the Roundhouse, highlighting the final weekend of the Du Maurier International Jazz Festival Vancouver, June 28 and 29. Concord Pacific was a sponsor for the popular event -- this year relocated from the Plaza of Nations to the Roundhouse and David Lam Park. The spectacular new venue was a big hit with the enthusiastic crowds... including boaters and kayakers who pulled close to the shore to share in the hot sounds and mellow mood.

At the Ford Centre is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with the electrifying new star David Burnham. One of North America's hottest talents, he has earned rave reviews since assuming the lead role from Donny Osmond. Based on the Biblical story of Joseph and his eleven brothers at the time of the Pharaohs, the show incorporates a variety of musical styles, from Calypso to rock 'n roll. It's a dream of an entertainment event!

In January at the Ford Centre, you can experience an international phenomenon of the musical stage. Riverdance, the heart-stopping celebration of Irish music, song and dance, has dazzled over three million people worldwide since its 1995 premier in Dublin.  Just east of Concord Pacific Place is Science World, another great entertainment centre. The Fall schedule in the Alcan OMNIMAX Theatre includes "The Living Sea," a breathtaking, Academy Award-nominated documentary narrated by Meryl Streep. For complete show information, phone (604) 268-6363.

On the streets of Concord Pacific Place, the Molson Indy Vancouver cranked up the excitement throughout the Labour Day weekend. Terry Hui, President of Concord Pacific Place, and Bill Dalton, President and CEO, The Hongkong Bank of Canada, both sponsors of the Indy Lights race, congratulate 1997 winners. Also featured were special events like the Mini Molson Indy, an important fundraiser for Canuck Place, KidSport Fund, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation of British Columbia.
