As The population in the Concord neighbourhood grows it’s attracting more and more services and conveniences. Most residents are hoping that the next to open will be the new grocery store.

While various rumours circulate in the local media and the name remains a mystery, the spot is all picked out. Concord Pacific has already set aside 23,500 sq. ft. of prime street level retail space at Davie and Pacific, central to everyone in the Concord neighbourhood, with underground parking available at the foot of Davie Street.

The new store will anchor the Davie@Pacific retail centre, which will include the neighbourhood’s new Hongkong Bank of Canada branch, a major restaurant, medical, dental, legal and other professional services.

Concord Pacific expects the new grocery store to be open for business by late fall 1999. Watch for more information in the next issue.

Opening in the Fall of 1998, La Terrazza brings authentic Italian cuisine to the corner of Cambie and Pacific. Our dream is to rekindle the passion for traditional Italian cooking, commented chef Gennaro Iorio.

And with true Italian passion that extends from food to the wine, La Terrazza will feature Vancouver’s first wine museum, or Enoteca, offering an extensive selection of wines from around the world. The Enoteca will also be available for private dining.

Look for La Terrazza at 1088 Cambie St.

Cutting a ribbon of CD ROM disks, representatives from the University of British Columbia, Concord Pacific, the Roundhouse Community Centre and Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation officially opened UBC’s Multimedia Lab at the Roundhouse Community Centre earlier this year.

Part of our mandate at UBC Continuing Studies is to reach out into the community with innovative, relevant programs. The Concord neighbourhood and Yaletown are two of the fastest growing residential and commercial areas in Vancouver so we predict a great demand for computer and internet training, said William Koty, Manager of Internet Programs for UBC Continuing Studies.

To provide both students and teachers with the latest technology, the Roundhouse Community Centre and the entire Concord neighbourhood are equipped with Fibre Link, the latest in high speed fibre optics technology. For Concord residents that means instantaneous internet and video teleconferencing, faster downloading and on-line multimedia. For students it means UBC’s first off-campus facility for multimedia, computer skills and software engineering studies.
